The Denver Nuggets will be keeping veterans point guard Jameer Nelson, shooting guard Will Barton and power forward Darrell Arthur after signing them to multiyear deals last Friday.
Nelson was acquired by the Nuggets via trade deal from the Boston Celtics last January for point guard Nate Robinson.
Denver is Nelson's fourth team after also playing for the Orlando Magic for 10 seasons before shifting to three different teams including the Dallas Mavericks, Celtics, and the Nuggets, last season.
The 33-year-old point guard enjoyed most success with the Magic and was part of the franchise's former big three which also included now Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard and forward Rashard Lewis who last played for the Miami Heat.
Their big three was able to bring the Magic to the Finals in the 2008–09 season but they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
In his stint with the Nuggets last season, Nelson played in 34 games which included five starts and averaged 9.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
Nelson was mainly a backup to Ty Lawson in the 2014–15 season; and he will likely have the same role with the Nuggets drafting the 19-year-old Emmanuel Mudiay seventh overall in this year's draft.
Meanwhile, Barton became part of the Nuggets after getting traded from the Portland Trail Blazers last February.
Barton was a second-round pick by the Blazers in 2012 and stayed with the team for almost three seasons until he was traded away.
In his stay with the Nuggets, the 24-year-old improved his performance as he averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per outing in 28 games played.
Along with Nelson and Barton, Arthur was also re-signed by Denver and will be playing in his third season with the team.
Arthur spent his first four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies until he was traded to the Nuggets.
In his second season with the Nuggets last season, Arthur played in 54 games which included four starts and averaged 6.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game.
