Dell Venue 10 7000 laptop specs review

 Dell website

Dell denotes its most premium, cutting-edge products with a "7000" tag. In this regard, the latest offering from the tech firm, the Venue 10 7000, is shaping up to be one of the best hybrids the company has offered in years.

Design

One of the most intriguing aspects of the new Dell hybrid is what the company touts as a "barrel edge." The edge has two metal openings that connect to the Venue keyboard, transforming the tablet into a laptop.

The tablet has two cameras, much like other Venue predecessors. The main camera captures images at 8 MP, while the front camera is also good for video conferences at 2 MP. The main shooter has Dell's proprietary Intel RealSense technology that allows image captures and measurements of objects and distances.

For convenience, the tablet is just 0.24 inches in thinness and weighs 1.32 pounds, including the Bluetooth keyboard.

Display, processor, hardware

The new Dell Venue 10 7000 has a 10.5-inch OLED display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution. Powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, the tablets clocks in at 2.3 GHz with 2 GB of RAM. In terms of storage, there are three versions of the device — users can choose from 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB variants. For those wishing to have more in terms of storage, the Venue 10 7000 has a built-in microSD slot for expansion of up to 512 GB of storage.

Rounding up the hardware specs, the Venue 10 7000 has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, a micro USB port for charging, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The device is powered by a 7,000 mAh battery, able to provide a rated battery life of 7 hours.

Dell's Venue 10 7000 will hit the stores in May this year, and is priced starting at $499 for the tablet and $629 with the keyboard bundled.
