'Dark Souls 3' 'Ashes of Ariandel' DLC release date confirmed for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 on Oct. 25

Dark Souls 3 - Ashes of Ariandel DLC Bandai Namco

As per a report from IGN, Bandai Namco has officially unveiled the first DLC for "Dark Souls 3" with an announcement trailer as well as when it will launch. According to the report, "Ashes of Ariandel" will be out for the PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 by Oct. 25.

The DLC will be bringing players to the frozen wasteland of Ariandel and players will discover how and why the once beautiful kingdom fell into the wastes, become the frozen desolation that it is now. It is unclear just how much of the DLC will contain in terms of new quests and lore but it is speculated to be a lot.

New forms of magic, new armor, weapons, challenges and several new enemies will be introduced with the DLC. A few new features will also be brought into the game's competitive multiplayer mode. Given that a part of the story is to discover the evil within responsible for destroying Ariandel the DLC is expected to introduce a brand new boss.

Players can still avail of the Season Pass which costs a total of $24.99. This season pass covers the first and second DLC for the game. Those without the Season Pass can still purchase "Ashes of Ariandel" separately for $14.99.

"Players will find themselves steeped in a brand new environment filled with terrifying new enemies, challenges, and exciting lore to expand the overarching 'Dark Souls 3' storyline," states the official Bandai Namco description for the DLC.

According to a report from Gamespot, some of the images released also appear to hint at some connection to the very first "Dark Souls" game. It is noted that some areas of Ariandel appear to be quite similar to the "Painted World of Ariamis" content of the first game. It is also speculated that Priscilla, the dragon from the first game, and her possible descendant Yorshka may be featured in the DLC as well.

"Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel" launches on Oct. 25.
