'Dancing with the Stars' season 23 cast rumors: no Michael Phelps but Sharna Burgess and Artem Chigvintsev coming back

The official cast list for "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 has yet to be revealed and it was previously reported that Olympics gold medalist Michael Phelps had declined a second offer to join the show. Despite this, ABC has released a brand-new promo trailer and a poster photo showcasing the return of two professional dancers.

As reported by People, the poster confirms that dancers Sharna Burgess and Artem Chigvintsev will be coming back for season 23. They were competing in season 22, pairing Burgess with NFL player Antonio Brown and Chigvintsev with actress Mischa Barton. Chigvintsev and Barton were the second to be eliminated on the show while Burgess and Brown were the eighth.

It is further reported that both dancers have been on the show for some time and are both fan favorites, boosting the possibility of them getting even further than before this upcoming season.

Burgess did manage to gain third place when she was paired with Noah Galloway and as a runner-up when paired with singer Nick Carter. Chigvintsev got up to the runner-up title when paired with Natalie Gumede back in season 11 and he won the competition in season 8 with Kara Tointon.

People also reports that the studios have yet to announce if hosts Erin Andrews and Tom Bergeron are returning. The same can also be said for judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli. It is expected that a full announcement revealing the cast, judges and hosts will be made soon given that the show premieres next month.

The official "Dancing with the Stars" Facebook page also shared a promo teaser for season 23 but it only focuses on the main highlights of the past three seasons, showcasing some of the best dances from winners Nyle DiMarco, Bindi Irwin and Rumer Willis.

"Dancing with the Stars" season 23 premieres this Sept. 12.
