Cleveland Cavaliers roster news: Kyrie Irving keeps date of return private

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving already has a date for his return this 2015–16 season from a knee injury but will not be disclosing any information about it yet.

Last season, Irving had to exit in Game 1 of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals due to a fractured knee cap which also sidelined him in training camp, the preseason, and now, the first few games of the season.

But in a report by ESPN, Irving might make his comeback soon as he stated, "There's light at the end of the tunnel."

"In terms of a date, I do have one in my head, but obviously, I'm not going to share it for a little bit," he also said.

According to Irving, he will let the rumors about his return stay as he continues to take it one day at a time and just continue the recovery process while trying not to "overdo" things.

The 23-year-old also expressed the importance of getting back to game shape and has been sprinting while also doing basketball drills despite not being given the clearance yet for contact.

"This has been the biggest learning experience for me in terms of my body and being able to be ready to play," Irving said.

Last season, Irving played and started in 75 regular season games, averaging 21.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest in 36.4 minutes of action.

Despite those contributions not currently present for Cleveland, the team is still faring well this season at 4–1, with the only loss suffered in the season opener against the Chicago Bulls (97–95).

In his absence, stepping up for the Cavs are point guards Matthew Dellavedova and veteran Mo Williams who are performing really well this season.

The Cavaliers may have to play the waiting game a bit more with Irving but for the meantime, they need to take care of business today, Friday, when they face for the second time this season the Philadelphia 76ers.
