The Cleveland Browns will not be tapping in the services of 2015 seventh-round pick cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu as he is expected to sit out for the entire season because of major injuries sustained while playing for Oregon Ducks.

ESPN reported that the Browns already placed Ekpre-Olomu on the active/non-football injury list Wednesday.

Entering last season with Oregon, the 22-year-old player was a prospected first-rounder ahead of the 2015 National Football League (NFL) Draft.

Unfortunately, he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament last December while the Ducks were training for their national championship semi-final game against Florida State and later revealed he also had a dislocated knee.

Despite the risk of injuries, the Browns still selected Ekpre-Olomu with the 241st pick in the draft.

Cleveland head coach Mike Pettine discussed in his interview with the Cleveland Plain-Dealer the Browns' situation with regards to Ekpre-Olomu's injuries.

"Players that have had this injury before, it's rare that you would return that season. Given our depth, we're very comfortable with him sitting out," Pettine said.

He added, "That's just one that we felt it was a low-risk, high-reward move when we took him in the seventh round. There's no reason to rush it back given the depth in that room now anyway."

In other Browns news, quarterback Johnny Manziel seems to be heading the same path he was in during last offseason's training camp as he is again struggling this year.

Pettine said before the Browns started camp that Manziel can redeem himself and compete for the starting nod against veteran Josh McCown, who is a likely starter for the team, when they open the 2015 season against the New York Jets.

But like last year, Manziel is still trying to find his groove and ESPN reported that he did not seem confident; although according to the report, Pettine liked his and McCown's control in the huddles and their knowledge of the plays.
