The popular turn-based strategy history-inspired game "Civilization" is now in its sixth installment and will soon reveal their "Rise and Fall" expansion. It has been recently revealed that a new country can be playable with a new historic ruler.

Gamers who get the "Rise and Fall" expansion can now play as Queen Seondeok, the first female ruler of Korea. In the game, their main unique tier/district is the Seowon, which puts a lot of emphasis on science. The Seowon is an upgrade of the campus, which makes it seem like a tradeoff, but gamers will see that it definitely works in the long run.

As players now, getting Seowon will lead to noticeably reduced yield from districts. On the bright side, however, with the new ability called "Three Kingdoms," mines and farms get bonus science and bonus food, respectively, as long as they are built beside Seowon. As with almost all the features in the "Civilization" series, Korea's unique ability is based on the history of Korea and its actual Three Kingdoms of Korea.

According to PC Gamer, in history, alongside Queen Seondeok, Baekje and Goguryeo were the rulers of the other two kingdoms of Korea. Also in line with, or at least echoing from, history is Korea's unique combat unit and the bonuses that Queen Seondeok gives.

The "Hwacha", a Korean exclusive unit, is a ballista that can either fire a hundred rocket arrows or two hundred Chongtong bullets. This was reflective of the ballista they also used when a small number of Koreans had to defend the land from Japanese forces in the Battle Haengju. Note here that the Japanese forces were nearly ten times bigger than the Koreans. As for Queen Seondeok herself, she has a "Hwarang" ability that, like the "Three Kingdoms," grants bonus science and culture to all cities as long as they have a governor.

The big "Rise and Fall" expansion will be coming out on Feb. 8, 2018.
