A Civil War-inspired game featuring the Confederate Flag made its return to the iTunes Store after being removed temporarily.

Over the course of last week, Apple had begun taking down games from their app store mainly because they featured images of the Confederate Flag being used in what the company termed as "offensive and mean-spirited ways."

Since that time, at least one game featuring the Confederate Flag has made its way back to the iTunes app store in the form of "Ultimate General: Gettysburg," according to Gamespot.

The game's developer, Games-Lab, commented on the return of "Ultimate General: Gettysburg" to the app store. "After several late night phone calls with Apple yesterday and today the game has returned to AppStore the way it was... in 1863," said Games-Lab in a statement released on their website.

"Ultimate General: Gettysburg" is a strategy game that recreates some of the most important battles that took place during the American Civil War. The game features several battles that took place between the years 1861 and 1865, according to Polygon.

In addition to "Ultimate General: Gettysburg," there were other games which also featured the Confederate Flag which were taken down. Some of the other games taken down from the iTunes App Store included "Civil War: 1862," "Civil War: 1864" and "Civil War: Gettysburg" were also taken down, according to CNN Money. All three titles belonged to HexWar Games, and both Apple and the developer have indicated that some changes need to be made before they can be returned to the iTunes App Store.

Another title from HexWar Games, entitled "Civil War: 1863," was taken down but immediately reinstated by Apple without requiring its developer to make any changes.

Apple's latest actions concerning the reinstated titles indicates mistakes on their part in terms of evaluating the content of the games. Apple has said they will continue to reinstate games that may have been wrongly taken down.
