Christian American rock band Lifehouse is hot off the heels of its new album "Out of the Wasteland," where the band reportedly returned to its roots and produced songs reminiscent of its old hit "Hanging by a Moment."

Speaking to Gigs and Tours, Lifehouse lead singer and frontman Jason Wade shared what is extra special about his band's new album, revealing where he and his band mates get the inspiration for their songs.

"We pull influences from all over, whether they be art, films, books, music or life experiences. It's hard to pinpoint just one," he said.

As for the band's new record, Wade said it is "a mix of the formulas we have used for our past records tied in with the formula that we currently use."

"We wanted to get back to our roots while staying in the present, appealing to our fan base while appealing to ourselves at the same time. Our song-writing process is always evolving and changing and growing. There have never been any rules, which keeps the creative process healthy," he said.

He said one of the most special songs from the album is called "Hourglass." He said this was the result of the collaboration they did with American composer James Newton Howard. Lifehouse's manager and producer Jude Cole has worked with Howard over the years, and that song had been "lying around unused for quite some time." Wade decided to finish it, and the rest was history.

The whole band got burned out after the release of its last album "Almeria." Wade said he and his band mates feel so grateful that they opted to "recharge" since after deep reflection, they realised what kind of music they really wanted to be doing. The result of their passion can now be found in "Out of the Wasteland."

"I think after 13 years of touring, we were all just a little bit burned out. It was necessary to recharge the batteries while exploring other avenues to individually grow," Wade said.

Lifehouse will be touring the UK in October 2015, and the whole band is pretty excited about it.
