It seems like the injury bug will not be leaving Chicago Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose as he suffered a left ankle sprain in their 96–95 win over the Indiana Pacers at home Monday.
Rose suffered the injury in the fourth quarter, headed to the locker room, and was unable to return to the game.
"I twisted it along the baseline ... just a regular ankle sprain. It throbs a little bit but nothing out of the norm, so I'm all right," Rose said, according to the Chicago Tribune.
In a report by ESPN, the former Most Valuable Player (MVP) also said, "All of it's positive. For what I went through and all I've been through, just me playing and feeling all right after the game. Of course, my ankle's a little bit sore, but I'm just happy nothing's tore or broken. So I'll be all right."
Before leaving the game, Rose was performing very well, scoring 23 points and also having two rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block in 33 minutes of action.
Along with the ankle sprain, the three-time National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star is also dealing with a vision woe due to the orbital fracture he suffered during the first day of training camp before the season began.
Rose started to have double vision following the surgery for the injury and according to Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg, the problem may last for three more months, ESPN mentioned in another report.
The win over the Pacers gave the Bulls a 7–3 record which places them second in the Eastern Conference standings, just behind the conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers (8–2).
Up next for Chicago is a four-game road trip which will begin in Arizona when they take on the Phoenix Suns.
Rose did not confirm that he will play against the Suns, but with his injuries not looking like major concerns, it is likely that he will see action.
