Current "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Candace Cameron-Bure is happy the hit show has given her a larger platform to discuss Christianity, but also says she has been criticized for her faith.
The former "Full House" actress—who has spoken about her beliefs in books and interviews for years—stated that while some people support her, others think she shouldn't talk about her beliefs so much.
Bure pointed out that the producers go through hours of "DWTS" footage, and choose what content to edit out. Much of her remaining footage revolves around faith and family.
"We have a camera on us when we're at the studio twenty-four, seven," she told TheBlaze. "Obviously, my faith is important to me. They continue to display that. I think that's a misconception for the people who think that's all that I talk about."
Bure was quick to clarify that she was glad that the program was edited that way.
"Obviously I'm unashamed and I'm happy that they do," she said.
The former child star also revealed that because of her faith, some people believe she shouldn't be competing on the show at all.
"I've had so much support on one hand from the faith-filled audience and at the same time I've had a lot of criticism— just the people who don't think that it's honoring for me to dance with someone other than my husband or [that I should] be in a world that's only Christian," Bure said.
"And I just don't hold that point of view ... I'm not the person to be put only in the Christian bubble."
Bure and her dance partner Mark Ballas danced the Argentine Tango last night, and are safely heading into week eight on the ABC program.
No matter how long they stay in the competition, the wife and mother of three says that it has been a great opportunity.
"It's been an awesome experience. It's been really fun. It's been really difficult," she told TheBlaze.
"It's been physically and emotionally exhausting and yet I'm having the time of my life."
"Dancing with the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
