The 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season just got tougher for the Brooklyn Nets as starting point guard Jarrett Jack was ruled out of for the season with two injuries to his right knee.

Jack, who is one of the most efficient players in the Nets roster this season, was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and small medial meniscus tear, according to a press release on the team's website.

The release also mentioned that the veteran playmaker will undergo surgery but the date has yet to be determined.

Jack suffered the injury during the third quarter of Saturday's 100–97 victory over the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden.

According to a report by ESPN, Jack told reporters in Boston after the game, "I had never felt pain like that before, so I knew it was something."

The 32-year-old point guard then added that he will try to stay positive and is not speculating; unfortunately, the injury ended his season abruptly.

Jack has played in all 32 games of Brooklyn this season. He has been the starting point guard since Deron Williams left in the offseason and is now with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Nets will miss 12.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game since these are Jack's averages this 2015–16 regular season.

Expected to step up for the Nets at the point guard position in Jack's absence are Shane Larkin and Donald Sloan.

Up next for Brooklyn is a three-game home stand which begins with a rematch against the Celtics today, Monday.

The Nets are aiming to win back-to-back since the last time they did was in early December.

Following Boston, the Toronto Raptors will visit this Wednesday before the Orlando Magic close the home stand on Friday.

The Nets are 10–23 for the second to the last spot in the very tight Eastern Conference standings, sitting just above the lowly Philadelphia 76ers who are at 3–33.
