When The Learning Channel (TLC) announced that it was cancelling the Duggar family show "19 Kids and Counting," the TV network tried to soften the blow on fans by saying that it would still be making a documentary with the Christian family relating to child sexual abuse.
Now, the documentary's release date has been announced, according to the Duggar Family Blog. TLC has scheduled the commercial-free one-hour documentary on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 10 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. CT. It will be entitled "Breaking the Silence" and will feature both Jill Duggar Dillard and Jessa Duggar Seewald and many other personalities.
Erin Merryn, a victim of child sexual abuse who now works as a travelling speaker, will also be part of the special documentary. Even before Josh Duggar's child molestation scandal broke out in May, his parents Jim Bob and Michelle had already met Erin at an event in Arkansas and invited her into their home to talk with a handful of their kids about sexual abuse and the importance of speaking up about it.
"We look forward to working with TLC on this upcoming special documentary and hope that it is an encouragement to many," the family earlier said. "We know Who holds the future and are confident that He will work all things together for good."
"It is our prayer that the painful situation our family went through many years ago can point people toward faith in God and help others who also have lived through similar dark situations to find help, hope and healing, as well," they added. "God's faithfulness and goodness to us, along with His abundant grace have given us strength and joy even in the most difficult days."
