"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" is finally coming to North American theaters on Oct. 10, after its debut release in Japan last Aug. 7. The much-anticipated movie will be shown in 80 cities in the U.S., and nine in Canada including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Calgary. This was revealed by a press release by Viz Media, the publisher and distributor of the "Naruto" anime franchise.
The screenings will be in Japanese with English subtitles. The movie is expected to draw in millions of fans to theaters, a repeat of its huge opening in Japan that raked in more than $5 million in ticket sales within three days.
The film already has many spoilers published online which fanned more interest for the anime film.
What the spoilers gave up so far is that the movie is about Naruto Uzumaki and his son, Boruto. The relationship Boruto has with his father, whom he admire and resent at the same time, will be one of the focal points of the story. Boruto's journey into becoming a shinobi is cut short when two villains appear in the midst of the Chunin Exam. Naruto will be viciously attacked by the two villains and his survival from that fight is not yet clear. There are leaks that say Naruto and Boruto will both make it out alive.
The movie also reveals the identity and origins of a mysterious ninja named Mitsuki and his father, Orochimaru. Even with that revelation, Mitsuki is still a character shrouded in so much mystery. The dynamics of both Naruto's and Sasuke's children add an interesting flavor to this film.
"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" is created by Masashi Kishimoto. The film is directed by Hiroyuki Yamashita, also known to be the episode director of "Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie." The script was written by Ukyo Kodachi.
