Blackberry Q20: Classic look to hurl device to the top or make it crash rock bottom?

The skepticism enveloping Blackberry's attempt in reclaiming a glorious spot in the smartphone arena still lingers. The company's comeback effort is hoped to translate into a success and Blackberry Q20 will be the expected frontrunner to do the job.

Noticeably, the look of the device was drawn from the design of the company's preceding BB7 handsets, hence it is also known as Blackberry Classic. It will be the third physical keyboard device for the Blackberry 10 line-up as Blackberry made sure to incorporate a full QWERTY keyboard as well as touchscreen on the upcoming phone. Enthusiasts believe it is what this handset is all about. With all the fully touchscreen devices peppered in the field, Blackberry Classic will find its way to stand out in the ripening competition with the promise of a better typing experience for users. It is considered its main asset as well as a trademark.

The trackpad is also back. A 13-megapixel rear camera as well as a 2-megapixel front shooter will be loaded in the Blackberry Classic. It is rumored to be powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which is complemented with 2 GB RAM and a 16 GB storage capacity. A MicroSD slot is intact, too. It is speculated to get a 3.5-inch display that delivers a 720 x 720 pixels screen resolution and a 294 ppi pixel density.

Blackberry CEO John Chen said in the recent Mobile World Congress that it is high time to go back to the device "that has always felt right in your hands and always felt right in your busy day."

But that in itself is make or break. It is too big of a risky stunt. With users comfortable with the current smartphone offerings today, the fear of stepping out and trying something different is still imposing. However, this thought may be the very weapon Blackberry can hold on to, as most users may come to realize that change in the smartphone ground can be revolutionary. In the nearing advent of the Blackberry Classic, this seems to be its maker's push and foreseen advantage. Air Herald even commends Blackberry's bold step in trailing a course not treaded by any of the existing tech titans in the market today. It is not impossible that Apple and Android may be doing major overhaul once Blackberry Classic experiences a grand reception by December this year. The only thing to settle is a budget-friendly price as this may be its turning point.
