'Better Call Saul' season 3 release date, spoilers: Breaking Bad's Gus Fring to make a comeback?

Giancarlo Esposito as Gustavo Fring AMC

Gustavo Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) has gone down as one of the most feared villains introduced in "Breaking Bad" and as stated in a report from Variety it is possible the villain will be making an appearance in "Better Call Saul" season 3.

The character was not seen in the season 2 finale but the episode did see a note left addressed to Mike (Jonathan Banks). The letter gave a warning, telling Mike to avoid taking extreme measures against another "Breaking Bad" character Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis).

According to the report, there is no outright mention of Gus Fring in the letter but it is pointed out that the first letter of each episode from season 2 spells out the phrase "Fring's Back" in a quick-to-decipher anagram. Fans have taken this as a sign that the letter was indeed written by Fring or at least one of his associates.

Fring was one of the most prominent villains in "Breaking Bad" and it is likely that the third season may explore more of Fring's backstory and how he eventually became the primary distributor in "Breaking Bad" since the show's second season. Very little about his story has been explored except for the fact that he built his empire starting in Chile.

"Now that the cat is out of the bag, we're certainly thinking Gus Fring had a hand in what happened with Mike at the end of season two. Having said that, Gus Fring works in mysterious ways, he casts a long shadow, he works indirectly," explained showrunner Peter Gould.

The showrunner also explained in the report that the original intention was to reveal the anagram via social media after the show's second season finished airing but the fans were able to figure it out first and the main fear was that the fans may have expected to see Fring in season 2, only to discover he'd only be making an appearance in season 3.
