Ben and Jessa Seewald's lives have changed for the better ever since their son Spurgeon Elliot came along.

During an interview on the TLC documentary called "Jill and Jessa: Counting On," Ben talked about the joys of fatherhood and what sacrifices they had to make to accommodate a baby in their lives.

"What is the best thing about being a dad? That's a pretty tough question. There's a lot of things that are awesome about it. Having your own little guy, just the privilege of raising a little kid—it's a huge responsibility and a huge blessing at the same time," he said.

As for the hardest thing they dealt with since Spurgeon came along, Ben shared that it has been diaper duties. "So far, it's just been waking up in the night, changing diapers. Your schedule kind of gets changed around a little bit. I'm sure there'll be more difficult things down the road, you know—teenage years and all that," he laughingly said.

Ben said he also learned that he has to be very careful handling Spurgeon because any sudden movements such as bouncing can cause him to spit.

The young father loves it when he gets to bond with Spurgeon. Even though he cannot talk yet, Ben likes to think that he is already communicating with them by way of facial expressions.

"I think it's hilarious whenever I'm holding Spurgeon and he starts making these hilarious faces at us. I came from work, I'm holding him and he starts raising his eyebrows at me, like 'Hey dad, what's up?'" he said. "So it's just funny thinking, 'What's going through his mind right now?'"

When asked if Spurgeon looks more like him or his wife Jessa, Ben had to admit that their son is "a pretty good mix" of them both. Ben added that Spurgeon's eyes are pretty similar to his when he was just a young boy.
