Despite "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" not achieving the goals Warner Bros. Pictures hoped it would, it is almost universally agreed that Ben Affleck's portrayal of Bruce Wayne aka Batman is one of the best elements of the film. It is now hinted that he will gain even more control with the upcoming solo "Batman" movie.
According to Heroic Hollywood, Affleck will be collaborating with Geoff Johns, the chief creative officer of DC Comics. This means that the film will not be affected by outside influences coming from executives of Warner Bros., an issue that may have led to "Batman v Superman" being bloated with too many sub-plots.
"From what I'm hearing, according to sources, Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns have complete creative control on the movie," explained Umberto Gonzales of Heroic Hollywood. "Which is big. Meaning that they are going to be calling all of the creative shots. They're not going to have any outside influences."
Affleck taking over creative control is highly regarded as a good choice for the movie. Affleck has already proven his skill as he already won an Academy Award for penning the script for "Good Will Hunting," alongside fellow writer-actor Matt Damon, and the Affleck-directed movie "Argo" won an Academy Award for Best Picture.
According to a report from Cinema Blend, the news that Warner Bros. Pictures is giving others full control also indicates that director Zack Snyder's grip on the DCEU is beginning to loosen as well. Snyder was responsible for handling "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman," both of which were met with mixed reviews and average box office results.
The report also points out that the solo movie is very likely to adapt the "Under the Red Hood" storyline, where Batman faces against Jason Todd aka the Red Hood, a former Robin who was killed by the Joker (Jared Leto), only to come back with the need for violence and vengeance.
