The Baltimore Ravens addressed the lost of one of their most important defensive players by signing veteran linebacker Jason Babin to a one-year deal for the veterans minimum.

Baltimore's all-time leader in sacks, linebaker Terrell Suggs, is out for the entire 2015 season after suffering an Achilles injury in their season opener loss to the Denver Broncos.

The injury prompted the Ravens to look for a quality replacement holding workouts for Babin and Shaun Phillips last Tuesday, according to reports.

In the end, Babin did enough to convince the Ravens to give him a new contract and another chance in the National Football League (NFL) after getting cut by the New York Jets earlier this month after one season.

The 35-year-old was drafted 27th overall in 2004 by the Houston Texansa; after playing three seasons with the team, he has been a journeyman.

Along with the Texans and the Jets, Babin also played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In his entire NFL career, Babin had 372 combined tackles, 64.5 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, and 35 stuffs.

"He'll provide us with another good player at that position. I like the way he plays, I like his style, his mentality," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said about Babin, according to the team's website.

Babin also feels the same way, saying, "I've always watched them play, and I've always admired how they played, the style they play and just everything about them. So, to be a part of this defense is really special to me."

The Ravens were devastated following Suggs' injury because he has been one of the most vocal leaders for the franchise and his teammates said he is irreplaceable.

But the Ravens need to move on and focus to rack up some wins as they continue their 2015 season this Sunday at the O.co Coliseum facing the Oakland Raiders.
