'Avengers: Infinity War' spoilers: Guardians of the Galaxy will appear

Avengers: Infinity War Marvel Studios

"Avengers: Infinity War" will include many of the superheroes that Marvel Studios has introduced over the years, and for a long time it was uncertain if it would also include the characters from "Guardians of the Galaxy" given that they are located across the galaxy instead of on Earth. Actor Vin Diesel has now announced that they will appear.

According to a report from Variety, Diesel made the announcement in front of his viewers as he was streaming a live video on Facebook, stating "Now, the Guardians will be included in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and that's incredibly exciting. You were told before everybody."

The report continued to state that the original intent of the video was not for Diesel to make the announcement but to show off an award he had achieved for attaining 100 million fans. During the majority of the video he did offer his gratitude for his fans who have been following him and giving support throughout his career.

Diesel did not explain what the role of the Guardians would be in "Avengers: Infinity War" but the previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have already shown that the Guardians have crossed paths with Thanos (Josh Brolin), who is expected to be the main villain in the film.

According to the report, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will launch in May 5, 2017, a full year before "Avengers: Infinity War" launches in 2018. It is possible that the film will explore how the Guardians get to Earth or how they meet the Avengers, ensuring that everything ties in perfectly by the time "Infinity War" takes place.

In the original Marvel Comics, Thanos journeys across the galaxy to attain the Infinity Gauntlet and its stones in order to gain immense power. At the end of the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie it was revealed that Thanos was set to get the stones himself as he already had the gauntlet, which indicates he will cross paths with the Avengers and the Guardians prior to "Avengers: Infinity War."

"Avengers: Infinity War" will release in theaters on May 4, 2018.
