Ray Comfort's new film project entitled "Audacity"—which is set for release online this Wednesday, June 24—bravely tackles the topic of homosexuality from a Christian perspective, Comfort's Living Waters ministry says in a press statement. The movie shows how Christians today can still maintain their stand on gender issues and not come off as homophobic, the ministry adds.
"Audacity" tells the story of a Christian named Peter who is struggling to find his voice as a believer in a culture that strongly opposes and questions the biblical view of homosexuality. In the film, audiences will see how Peter confronts this issue and manages to speak lovingly about the Word of God to his friends and peers despite having opposing views from them.
Comfort has already produced a number of movies and documentaries in recent years, including "180," "Genius," "Evolution vs. God," and "NOAH." He has spoken up about hot topics such as evolution and abortion in the past, and this time, he will gamely face one of the most culturally sensitive issues of today: Homosexuality.
"A non-Christian recently questioned how any Christian could possibly stay true to the Bible and not be 'homophobic,'" Comfort says. "After working on 'Audacity' for more than a year, I think we have (by the grace of God) done precisely that."
"'Audacity' explores the conflict between Christians and homosexuality using both a thought-provoking plot and real and unscripted street interviews conducted by Ray Comfort," Living Waters says.
The movie has received praise from both Christian and non-Christian viewers alike. When Comfort invited an outspoken atheist friend to a pre-screening of the film, his friend gave him the thumb's up sign.
"Without any provocation," Comfort says, his friend told him, "Unlike most Christian films it is far from cheesy, and has a great, well-acted script. Most of all it is not heavy-handed, showing the Christian position on homosexuality without being intimidating or angry. Well done!"
In audacitymovie.com, viewers are invited to download the movie on June 24 with the come-on that those who will do so will be able to watch it two months before its release on YouTube.
