As pro-life Americans march, Obama hails Supreme Court ruling legalising abortion

Christian teachings advocate the protection of all forms of life, including that of the unborn, but U.S. President Barack Obama seems determined to promote abortion.

In a statement to mark the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling essentially legalising abortion, Obama said his administration is committed to protect women's rights, including killing their unborn children.

"Today, we mark the 43rd anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade, which affirmed a woman's freedom to make her own choices about her body and her health," Obama said in a statement, as quoted by Christian News.

"The decision supports the broader principle that the government should not intrude on private decisions made between a woman and her doctor," the U.S. President said.

Obama issued his latest pro-abortion statement as thousands of pro-life advocates, including Christians, took to the streets for the annual "March For Life."

Despite the massive outpouring of public support against abortion, Obama maintained that he will not let any group undermine women's rights to abortion.

"As we commemorate this day, we also redouble our commitment to protecting these constitutional rights, including protecting a woman's access to safe, affordable health care and her right to reproductive freedom from efforts to undermine or overturn them," he said.

The U.S. President even implied that abortion helps women realise the American dream.

"[I]n America, every single one of us deserves the rights, freedoms, and opportunities to fulfill our dreams," Obama said.

Last year, the American president even assured that future generations will have the right to abortion.

"Today, as we reflect on this critical moment in our history, may we all rededicate ourselves to ensuring that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons," he said on the 42nd commemoration of the Supreme Court ruling.

The Obama administration is currently challenging before the high court new abortion regulations in Texas, which will require abortionists to obtain admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles among other restrictions.
