Apple TV Remote 2015 features news: To feature Touch ID?

According to reports, the upcoming Apple TV Remote could come equipped with Touch ID feature.

News of the remote possibly coming bundled with the new feature was first discovered through a patent filed by Apple at the US Patent and Trademark Office. The patent filing does not explicitly say that the remote will be getting the Touch ID feature, although it outlines a kind of feature that will utilize biometric mechanics, leaving many to speculate that it could be nothing other than the aforementioned feature.

The patent itself was filed back in Jan. 2014, according to the Telegraph UK.

The Apple TV Remote supposedly getting the Touch ID feature will allow it to function better both in terms of convenience and security.

Starting off with convenience, having Touch ID on the new remote will enable users to sync all their Apple devices with it for easy access, according to Bidness ETC. Users may even opt to create user profiles, which in turn will enable access to a larger array of useful functions.

When it comes to security, many will find it useful that Touch ID provides access only after the device has verified the fingerprints instead of the more easily attainable passwords. Since there will also be personalized accounts synced up through the Touch ID feature, it will be even more difficult for any one unauthorized to access the system unless they have the right fingerprint pattern.

Aside from improving the convenience and security features of the Apple TV Remote, Touch ID can also equip owners to safeguard television viewing even more.

Things such as age gates and content filters can be installed and implemented via Touch ID, allowing parents to ensure that children inside the home will watch only age-appropriate content even without their constant supervision.
