Apple AirPods release date, specs: Earbuds may not come out before holiday season

It's been weeks since Apple decided to delay the launch of the AirPods, so there should be a release date by now, right? Sadly, it looks like they are still working on it. Well, nobody wants to buy a buggy product that would break down days after purchase, so Apple should take their time with it.

MacRumors has reported that a research note from investment bank Barclays revealed that production of the AirPods will begin next month. Unfortunately, supplies are going to be limited because the company will only make 10 to 15 million units in the initial production run. That's a small amount for an item like this.

Can Apple release the AirPods before Christmas? Right now, the wireless earbuds are still listed as "currently unavailable" on Apple's product listing page. Furthermore, the item is nowhere to be found in the company's holiday gifts page.

Sources from a Chinese supply chain have reportedly said the AirPods are coming out in January 2017. If that's the case, then this means it will miss the Christmas season. Apple could have made a lot of money with the AirPods during the holidays.

MacRumors also said they heard reports saying an employee at European Apple reseller Conrad was heard telling a customer that they will get their AirPods stock on Nov. 17. Of course, it is possible that the employee was giving out inaccurate information, but be on the lookout during the next few days, just in case.

It should be noted that Apple has yet to announce the release date for the AirPods. Until they make a confirmation, all reports concerning the launch of the wireless earbuds are rumors at best, so readers are advised to take everything with a grain of salt.

In the meantime, consumers can check out other wireless earbuds currently in the market if they really need to get one right now.
