Motorola has "sweet" news for Moto X and Moto G users. In the official blog of Motorola, the company announced that the rollout of the latest Android OS update, the Android 5.0 Lollipop, has finally commenced for select Motorola handsets in the U.S. These include the second generation Moto X Pure Edition, Moto G US GSM, and Moto G Global SSM retail versions.

The company outlined the treats Android 5.0 Lollipop brings to users of the smartphone who have or will have it onboard in the near future. Google boasts the spanking new Material Design, which revolutionizes Android devices' overall visual appeal with its new and beautiful bright colors. It also offers "typography and edge-to-edge imagery" that revamp the users' smartphone experience on the whole.

In addition, "Downtime" and "Interruption" settings were incorporated, guaranteed to make viewing notifications from the device's lock screen possible. Android 5.0 Lollipop also integrates a "Guest mode," where users can regulate and set limits on other people's access to specific apps and the smartphone itself. Motorola added that the handsets can also act as a flashlight, simply with users swiping down with two fingers. Lastly, Motorola stated that "the Battery settings panel now shows an estimated projection for how much time" is left even while charging. Android 5.0 Lollipop can also have the handset slide into battery saver mode.

These amazing enhancements will also be enjoyed by carrier customers in the near future but the specific date for it to happen is still unknown.

"We're working hard with our carrier partners to bring this update to more of our devices as soon as we can," Motorola promised through the blog post.

Google will have the Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini at some point, but it has not come to it yet as the software giant is running through the process step by step. In the meantime, users can check the availability of the update by navigating to Settings> About Phone> Software Updates> Check Now. They can also check Motorola's software update page for the latest information about the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop.
