Amir Khan vs Chris Algieri live stream (Spike TV): Watch online boxing (Fight start time)

Amir Khan takes on Chris Algieri on Friday night in New York City as the pair fight it out at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Khan already has hopes to fight Floyd Mayweather later this year, however, to do so he will need to win this bout and put on an impressive performance.

Today's big bout between Amir Khan and Chris Algieri has a scheduled start time of 9.45 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the Spike channel in the United States, and on BoxNation in the United Kingdom. The fight can also be watched online through live stream via the link below.

Khan watched the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao and harbored hopes of fighting the victor of that bout. Mayweather won there by a unanimous points decision, and has said that he will fight just one more time before retiring, giving a September 2016 date as the likely time he will face off agains someone in the ring for the final time.

Khan is desperate to get a crack at Mayweather before he hangs up his gloves, and so will know how important tonight's fight is. If he loses or puts on a faltering performance it could be the end of his hopes to face Mayweather.

Already talk has been swirling that Mayweather's camp sees Khan as a legitimate potential fight for September, but they have held back from talking about it too publicly as they are likely awaiting the result of tonight's bout before pushing negotiations forward too aggressively.

The best thing Khan could do is put on one of his best performances ever tonight to get boxing fans excited about a potential match up with Mayweather, and riding on that wave of publicity, his dream fight may become reality.

However, the danger is that he comes into this fight distracted by talk of Mayweather. Already a number of pundits and media experts have warned Khan to make sure he focuses on the job at hand and ensure he puts 100 percent concentration into defeating Algieri, and only then should he even start to think about Mayweather. If he is distracted tonight, Algieri is no amateur, and will be going for an upset.

Tonight's fight will be Khan's first of the year, and he will be looking to improve his 30-3 record (19 KOs).

Algieri meanwhile will have other thoughts, and he has only ever lost once in his career - which was his last fight against Manny Pacqiuao where he was knocked down six times, but still impressively continued to fight to finish the bout. He boasts a record of 20-1 (8 KOs).

The Amir Khan vs Chris Algieri fight card will start at 9.45 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the Spike network in the United States, or BoxNation in the United Kingdom.
