Alberto Del Rio: 'In the WWE, you're a robot'

For WWE fans, Alberto Del Rio is a figure that many will remember from countless matches and feuds. But since his silent departure from the WWE scene, nothing has been heard of him since. That is until now when it was announced the Del Rio, now known as El Patron, surfaced in the Ring of Honor circle.

Del Rio was reportedly fired from the WWE after getting into an altercation with a WWE employee where he was criticized for having 'unprofessional conflict'.

Now however, Del Rio follows the footsteps of former WWE wrestlers such as CM Punk (now with MMA). He signed with Ring of Honor last December 11 and in drew a warm reception when he appeared for his first match.

Notable was his fire and passion, something that WWE followers may have not seen from the former WWE champion. His first match was against Christopher "Fallen Angel" Daniels which he won.

And now, Del Rio (now to be known as El Patron) will be making his first pay-per-view against Jay Lethal for the Ring of Honor television championship at the show's anniversary.

On the WWE, it was clear that Del Rio had his share of frustrations and how his new lease on life has allowed him to show the person he truly is. To sum it all up, Del Rio summed working for the WWE as being "terrified".

"Now everybody's talking about how passionate I am when I'm doing my promos in Ring of Honor and the House of Hardcore in Philly and all those other places. And all I can say is that you can feel the passion and the love because that's who I am. That's me. That's the real Alberto. In the other place, I never said anything because I wanted to. And if, for some reason, I changed one line, they were all mad and would be fining me. So people need to understand, when you work for that place, you are like a robot. You need to do exactly what they say and how they say it … You could get fined over everything … Everybody is terrified. We all were—or they are—terrified of changing something or trying something new. Of course there are some exceptions who can do and say whatever they want. But that rule doesn't apply to 90 percent of the wrestlers " narrates Del Rio in a report by Aaron Portier from Sci Fighting.
