'Agent Carter' season 2 spoilers: Peggy's new man is the antithesis of Cap when show returns

Peggy (Hayley Atwell) has a new love interest in the upcoming season of ABC's series "Agent Carter," Comic Book Resources reveals.

Executive producers Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, and Chris Dingess announced the news to the press during the San Diego Comic-Con. Fazekas said Peggy would be romantically involved with someone "entirely different" from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Dingress reminded the audience that the agent fell in love with the captain when he was still skinny, so they felt that choosing Peggy's new man should not necessarily be this "hunk of a guy with a shield."

"We also were sort of conscious of: let's makes him different. Let's make somebody she dates different that Steve. It's not that she's going to fall for the same guy all the time. So it's fun to sort of think about who would that be," Butters added.

The executive producers also took turns throwing hints on what viewers can expect from season 2. They said that Peggy will be facing a new landscape of "glamorous old Hollywood" when she moves to Los Angeles with Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy) and Agent Sousa (Enver Gjokaj). A comic book canon would also add an unexpected twist to the story, which would revolve around the Darkforce.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reveals that viewers will see more of Jarvis when "Agent Carter" returns for sophomore year. Fazekas said that the new assignment in Hollywood would reunite Peggy and the buttoned-up Brit "in a grand way."

"We have a nice, organic way to include Jarvis. That was a challenge. He's not an agent. The biggest question for us this season was: We love Peggy and Jarvis together, that's a really important relationship, how do we keep them together? And LA has provided us a really nice, organic way to do so."

"Agent Carter" will return midseason on ABC.
