Actress Candace Cameron Bure gets death threats after backing Oregon bakery couple

"Full House" actress Candace Cameron Bure has come under fire on Twitter after she came to the defence of an Oregon bakery couple who refused to serve a cake for a lesbian wedding.

During her July 7 guest host stint in "The View," Bure contended that the couple—Aaron and Melissa Klein—did not display any form of discrimination because they have the freedom of association. "It's about constitutional rights. It's about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with," she said.

Her statements upset former Disney child star Raven Symone, an avowed lesbian, who pointedly told Bure: "I refuse to associate with you right now!"

But Symone was not the only one who got upset over Bure's comments. In fact, several individuals were even harsher than Symone. Bure disclosed to Entertainment Tonight on Friday that she has received death threats from anonymous individuals.

"It can be tricky and difficult," Bure told ET. "I admit even a few of the days that I was on, there were a lot of hurtful comments."

The actress said all she wants is for people to move past the issue and simply be more accepting of differing opinions. "I just wish we could all be respectful to one another regardless of our opinions, especially if they differ from one another," she said. "I just wish people would just say, 'Good! You have your own opinion and I have mine. Let's still be nice and kind.'"

Bure is not the only one who has come to the defence of the Christian couple from Oregon. American evangelist Franklin Graham said the couple did nothing wrong, and believes that it is wrong for the state to prosecute them for exercising their religious beliefs.
