A real hoverboard from Lexus is coming this August

Just last month, Lexus released a video of its Slide hoverboard that caught the attention of sneakerheads and "Back to the Future" fans.

Turns out that the hoverboard is actually real and it's coming this August.

In a new teaser from the company released last Wednesday, the hoverboard is said to arrive on Aug. 5.

However, it was not made clear if that date will mean that a hoverboard will be available for sale; but surely more details will come in a matter of days.

The first Lexus Slide hoverboard was featured in a 30-second teaser in the previous month.

The board appeared to have a bamboo surface with smoke obviously seen surrounding the contraption, which is said to be from liquid nitrogen.

As the video nears the end, it was shown that the rider was about to mount on the floating board.

Some did not believe what they saw on the video and even considered Slide as a hoax, as BGR reported.

However, tech magazine Wired went to explain the technology that makes the hoverboard work, even suggesting that making such floating device is far from impossible.

The hoverboard has everything to do with electromagnetic fields, magnets, and liquid nitrogen.

The Slide hoverboard is comparable to Japan's maglev trains in some ways, since the trains also use magnets and appear to levitate.

With electromagnetic technology involved, it only means that if the skate park does not have metal lanes, the Lexus Slide may not be so awesome. Nevertheless, a magnetic hoverboard is still ingenious.

Lexus Slide hoverboard is real and outstanding and it's not just any special effects. However, as reported, Lexus is not planning to throw the product for commercial use.

CNN Money reported that the Slide ad is just part of a series of ad campaigns from the carmaker.

If the hoverboard does go on sale, it is expected to be expensive due to the technology it uses.
