60th anniversary of Queen's coronation celebrated with service at Westminster Abbey

 PA

The Queen will attend a service at Westminster Abbey today to celebrate the 60th anniversary of her coronation.

She will be accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh and more than 20 members of the royal family. They include the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The coronation chair and the gold St Edward's Crown will be on display during the service.

The Queen will enter the abbey to the same music that was played on the day of her coronation in 1953.

Readings will be given by UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Kamalesh Sharma.

Representatives of the Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish communities will also be in attendance.

The 60th anniversary of the coronation is a low key affair in comparison to the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen's accession to the throne marked last year with large-scale celebrations.

Queen Elizabeth II was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953 at the age of 27.
