"Zelda: Breath Of The Wild" is getting its second wind months after release, as a new downloadable content (DLC) for the Nintendo Switch game was revealed.

Publisher and developer Nintendo has announced the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC Armor update for "Breath of the Wild." It adds a crossover armor from the "Xenoblade Chronicles" franchise, intended for Link to wear. The armor is the costume which "Xenoblade" character Rex is wearing, one of the protagonists of the franchise.

The DLC is now available for players to obtain, though they will have to complete a series of sidequests first in order to get each individual armor piece as a reward. The DLC armor and the quests for it come with the game's 1.3.3 update. This update also adds four Champion Amiibo figures, now available in stores. These figures will unlock special in-game helmets based on the players' Divine Beast choice. When worn, the helmet will then offer special bonuses to Link.

Aside from being a tie-in product, the Armor DLC also serves as an advertisement for the Dec. 1 arrival of "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" for the Switch, which is also published by Nintendo. It is not yet clear whether "Xenoblade" will also have any "Zelda" references, DLC armors, or easter eggs in it.

"To help familiarise fans with main character Rex before the game launches, a new Side Quest will be available via a free update in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, in which players will be able to obtain a Rex costume for Link," claims Nintendo.

Players expecting anything related to the major paid DLCs for "Breath of the Wild" will have to wait for official announcements though, as Nintendo has made no proclamations on the upcoming first major DLC.

The upcoming DLC, titled "The Champions' Ballad" is still expected to be launched before the year ends and can only be obtained as part of the game's Season Pass worth $20. It will be including a new dungeon, as well as a new storyline for the award-winning Switch game.
