Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) will find her composure tested to its limits in the upcoming episode of TNT's post-apocalyptic drama series "The Last Ship."

In "Safe Zone," Cartermatt reports that Rachel will have to deal with the fact that her sworn enemy is in the same boat with her. Niels (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), aka Patient Zero, is aboard the Nathan James, and as much as she cannot stand being near him, she will have no choice. To top it all off, she is still struggling to piece together Dr. Hunter's (Timothy Landfield) formula to create the right cure.

Meanwhile, Chandler (Eric Dane) is also contending his own share of battle, as he has the difficult task of reversing the brainwashing Michener (Mark Moses) received from the Ramseys. Aside from that, he has to gain some useful data on the plans of the British and determine whether someone like the government official can be a leader.

Last episode, the Captain and his team had successfully extracted the newly appointed President from his puppeteer's clutches. They used a bomb ploy to cause pandemonium in the rally, and earned Michener's trust for "saving" him. Sean (Brian O'Byrne) bought the deception, too, and Chandler soon found himself part of the leader's security detail.

While mingling with Ned's (Nick Court) workforce, Danny (Travis Van Winkle) was able to slip undetected to Neil's laboratory. He quickly found out that Patient Zero had been putting vials of the virus inside teddy bears. Once squeezed, the ampoule would rupture and the virus would be released, infecting the entire population of children. Only those who are immune would be left alive.

Tex (John Pyper-Ferguson) and Danny captured Niels and the team converged, ready to get out of the Immune compound. The ensuing battle was intense, as the Ramseys' forces realized they were duped. Then a helicopter scooped the James' forces, with Niels and the President and they were off.

Meanwhile, XO Slattery (Adam Baldwin) was performing a maneuver of his own. He had to get the James in a good place to rendezvous with the Captain while the enemy sub was trying to track his every move. Eventually, the XO spotted the mouth of the river where it would be impossible for sonar to locate the vessel, rendering the sub's torpedo useless.

Back onboard the James, Chandler and his team were preparing to return and "win the hearts and minds of America."

"The Last Ship" airs Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
