Here's another reason to always pray and stay close to God: The devil can take hold of your body, even in ordinary places.

A video is circulating online showing how a woman shopping in a supermarket in China suddenly became allegedly possessed by an "evil spirit."

Surveillance cameras in the supermarket captured the middle-aged woman, dressed in dark clothes, casually strolling around the store's corridors, carrying items like pillows and blankets.

Strangely, an item in one of the shelves suddenly falls off, prompting the woman to pick it up and return it in its proper place.

After this, things take a horrifying turn. The woman is seen shaking inexplicably, and begins making scary moaning sounds. She eventually drops to the grocery store's floor.

Seemingly keen on helping the possessed shopper, another younger woman approaches her and reaches out a hand, only to be met by a terrifying response: the woman apparently taken over by an evil spirit begins shouting loudly.

Another man then appears and places his hand on the possessed woman's shoulder in an attempt to calm her down, but to no avail. She once again lets out a blood-curdling scream, shocking other shoppers.

The man still tries to help the possessed shopper by holding both her hands. He also asks for help from other people in the supermarket.

The woman then appears to have calmed down when the man places his hand on her head and performs some kind of healing ritual on her.

The disturbing video, posted on the Chinese version of YouTube called Youku, has already garnered thousands of views.

Some viewers suspect the woman was not possessed but only had an epileptic fit. Others think the video was staged, and the individuals in it were actors.

J. Gordon Melton, a Methodist minister who directs the Institute for the Study of American Religion, however, told Charisma News that demonic possession is "a big phenomenon."

"By conservative estimates, there are at least five or six hundred evangelical exorcism ministries in operation today, and quite possibly two or three times this many," said Michael Cuneo, a sociologist at Fordham University.
