"Harry Potter" alum Helena Bonham Carter could indeed be the new Princess Margaret of "The Crown."

Talks of the 51-year-old actress taking on the said role next season surfaced earlier this month after the show's decision to age up characters. Now, there has been strong evidence seemingly confirming the rumor and it comes courtesy of the original portrayer of the role, Vanessa Kirby, herself.

Kirby recently posted a photo of herself with Bonham Carter on Instagram, writing "Honoured" in the caption." If that was not enough to go on, she also tagged the official The Crown Instagram account in her posting. Check out her post below:

Netflix has not made anything official yet, and neither of the actresses appear to be in costume in the photo, so it could have been from a simple meet-and-greet session. However, many are convinced it is a precedent for the upcoming announcement.

Kirby portrayed Queen Elizabeth's scandal-struck sister in the first two seasons of "The Crown" opposite Claire Foy as the monarch. The latter has already found her royal successor in the form of "Broadchurch" star Olivia Colman. The recast aims to address the characters' ages as the story is set to feature a massive time jump.

As learned previously, "The Crown" season 3 picks up in the 1970s, a couple of years from the events of the second season. This is the era when Margaret's extraordinaire marriage to Lord Snowdon fell apart right in front of the public eye. Per Vanity Fair, marital problems started to rock the pair's union in 1973 when the princess began an affair with Roddy Llewellyn, the 25-year-old son of Olympic gold medal-winning showjumper Sir Harry Llewellyn.

Kirby admits she is heartsick to not reprise her role especially in this period of Margaret's life. She told the publication she thought enacting those events would be fun. "I kept saying to [series creator Peter Morgan], 'Can't you put in an episode where Margaret and Tony have a big row, and she throws a plate at his head?'" the actress revealed. "I'm so envious of the actress who gets to do it."

"The Crown" season 3 has no release date at the moment, but it is expected to hit Netflix sometime late this year.
