Selena Gomez, The Weeknd split rumors: Abel broke up with Gomez?

The Weeknd and Selena Gomez had just broken up after the "Fetish" singer was seen in several sightings with her ex, "Friends" singer Justin Bieber. But, the meeting up of the former lovers reportedly was not the cause of the split.

It turned out that the conflict of schedules and lack of time had taken its toll on the relationship of the "Starboy" singer and Gomez, according to TMZ. Apparently, The Weeknd was on tour, and Gomez had been busy as well with production, making it hard for them to meet and even spend some quality time, so much so that phone calls had become rare.

Insiders cleared Bieber's name and explained that he and "Kill 'em With Kindness" singer had only started to get together after The Weeknd and Gomez had split up. The sources also added that it was The Weeknd who did the breaking up and added that he "explained how the relationship was no longer working for him." Though this was the case, the two, who had dated for 10 months, remained friends.

People also reported that distance had played a major role in their decision. "It's been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn't easy on them," the source said.

Rumors started after Bieber and the former Disney star were seen grabbing breakfast at Joi Cafe in Westlake Village, California, and attending church during the weekend. News then broke out that Gomez and The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, had broken up after he unfollowed the mother of Gomez on Instagram, as well as the kidney donor and Gomez' best friend, Francia Raisa. Many noticed that it was the same thing he did with his ex, Bella Hadid, last year when he unfollowed friends and family of the model before unfollowing Hadid in the next months.
