It's less than a week away from the premiere of "Scandal" Season 4 and fans are anxiously waiting for what will happen. There were major cliffhangers in the Season 3 finale and fans want to get their answers.

TV Guide had a chat with the cast and creator of "Scandal" just in time before Season 4 makes its debut. And they talked about what's new in Season 4 and what the characters will be like.

It can be recalled that Olivia, played by Kerry Washington, left her firm and rode a private plane with Jake, played by Scott Foley. She bade farewell to her boyfriend Fitz, played by Tony Goldwyn. According to TV Guide, fans will immediately know where Olivia and Jake spent the past two months and how they spent it.

"The cool thing we can gather from being here is what we're doing feels very old-school. The people in the room are not who you expect them to be, but we're getting back to the show's core," said Washington. In other words, Washington is saying that Season 4 will go back to what made "Scandal" the show fans love. They will now be focusing on the show's main characters.

Goldwyn shared his opinion about what Olivia did. Apparently, Goldwyn doesn't approve of Olivia's decision. He said that she ran away from Fitz and it's at the moment when he just lost his son. Nonetheless, while he doesn't agree with Olivia's decision, he respects what show creator Shonda Rhimes had done with the story.

Rhimes talked about the need to separate Olivia and Fitz. "We were telling a very specific story that had to culminate in both Liv and Fitz breaking down to some extent."

"The finale wiped the slate clean," Rhimes said. "One thing I wanted was for Season 4 to not be as dark. I remember Kerry saying, 'What am I thinking in that moment on the plane?' And I said, 'That is your first step in your journey back toward something more positive, toward being your old self."

"Scandal" Season 4 will premiere on Sept. 25 on ABC.
