'Resident Evil 7: Biohazard' news: Capcom celebrates new milestone with 4.8 million Biohazard units sold worldwide

Capcom just released its Third Quarter Report for its fiscal year, and the video game giant is celebrating yet another milestone. Capcom's survival horror title "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard's" cumulative sales reached new heights with 4.8 million units sold around the globe.

Biohazard's 4.8 million units sold is among the Q3 reports' consumer highlights.

Capcom has been keeping things interesting for gamers by releasing additional DLC updates to introduce new contents and storylines to the critically acclaimed horror video game.

DLCs like "End of Zoe" and "Not a Hero" are a big hit among gamers as well the title's entire Gold Edition.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" was released back in Jan. 24, 2017 and was an instant hit among gamers and experts. Biohazard got a score of 7.7 out of 10 from IGN, 9 from Steam, 8 from GameSpot, and an 86 percent score rating from Metacritic.

The plot of the video game tells the story of Ethan Winters who navigates his way to a plantation in Dulvey, Louisiana. Ethan goes on a journey after receiving a letter from his wife who he believes is already dead for three years. Ethan then stumbles upon a family suffering from a virus and are out for blood.

The game is applauded for its storyline, audio design, and visuals. The title is also brought to the PlayStation Virtual Reality to amplify the game's horror element.

There are no further announcements nor information from Capcom about new DLC updates on the horizon.

Making headlines now are new developments about Capcom's "Resident Evil 2 Remake." Video game designer Hideki Kamiya, who is behind the original version, teased fans with his latest tweets. Kamiya took it to Twitter announcing that the remake will be directed by a good friend of his. Kamiya did not mention any name, but he did say "Do as you like" to the current director of the upcoming remake.

"Resident Evil 2" was released back on Jan. 21, 1998 for the PlayStation.
