After years of speculation, "Red Dead Redemption" fans were finally given a reason to celebrate as the game's sequel, "Red Dead Redemption 2" was finally announced last month. Now, the long wait begins before the game makes it to consoles all over the world, and recently, Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick gave a few teasers of the sequel.

Speaking at an MKM Partners event last week (via Gamespot), the executive said that the game will have "incredible emotional depth."

"You can expect there to be great story elements and great gameplay elements," Zelnick added.

No plot details have been revealed, but it is expected that the game will still focus on the Wild West, just like it did in the first installment.

"The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn't work," the CEO said about the original game. "We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched 'Red Dead,' it did. And those times were right for that."

Right now, it looks like the time is definitely ripe once again for a western-with-a-twist storyline as evidenced by the success of HBO's "Westworld." And with "Red Dead Redemption 2's" upcoming debut, Zelnick hopes that the game will offer a positive view of the country.

"I think the times are right for a big, sprawling optimistic view of America again — and that's not meant to be cute," said Zelnick.

Meanwhile, with all the new gaming consoles being launched, it remains to be seen whether the upcoming title will appear on the new PS4 Pro or the upcoming Nintendo Switch. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter gave his take on the matter, telling Gaming Bolt that the chances of the game appearing on the Nintendo console are slim to none.

Pachter said that Nintendo has" wandered too far from the mainstream" for most of the publishers and that he would be surprised if Take-Two would port anything for the Switch.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to be out in fall 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
