Elizabeth Banks's Rita Repulsa is ready to break free from captivity to spread terror in the latest promo image for the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie reboot.

The official Instagram account of the film released a new photo showing the villain standing behind a cracked wall made entirely from glass. However, the circumstances behind the photo are still being kept under wraps.

In a statement reported by IGN in April, Banks revealed that her character's look is "definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa." She also mentioned that the villainess is very "unpredictable," and the reboot will feature a re-imagined backstory that will link her closely to the new set of Power Rangers.

The first official synopsis for the film, released by Lionsgate, reads, "Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late."

Aside from Banks, the 2017 "Power Rangers" reboot will also star Dacre Montgomery as Power Rangers leader Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy/Blue Ranger, Becky G as Trini/Yellow Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly/Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack/Black Ranger.

The cast of the movie will also include Bryan Cranston as the Power Rangers' mentor Zordon. In an interview spotted by HNGN, the "Breaking Bad" actor claimed that the upcoming reboot of the "Power Rangers" franchise will feature a highly improved and reimagined take on the new installment of the superhero franchise.

The new "Power Rangers" film is slated for release on March 24, 2017.
