Phil Collins' 'In the Air Tonight' features in 'A.D. The Bible' Super Bowl trailer

Kelly Sweet's cover of Phil Collins' song "In the Air Tonight" featured Sunday in a Super Bowl commercials time slot as the soundtrack to the trailer for upcoming NBC series "A.D. The Bible Continues."

More than 110 million people saw the trailer for the new Bible-based series, which is set to premiere on Easter Sunday, April 5.

Filmed in Ouarzazate in Morocco, where major Hollywood blockbusters like Gladiator and successful series Game of Thrones were shot, the series' creator told Forbes that the story will focus on "the scandals of King Herod's family, the politics of the Romans, the machinations of the temple authorities in Jerusalem and the actions of the apostles."

"These disciples, after Jesus dies and resurrects, the Holy Spirit comes upon them and there is only one way for them-that's spreading the good news of Jesus," creator Mark Burnett said in an interview last year.

"What a drama. At some level, it's Game of Thrones, House of Cards," Burnett, who co-created the series with his wife Roma Downey, added.

The production built their sets in the desert, Forbes' article reported. Burnett and Downey's team had their groundbreaking in May last year, and commenced filming in September.

To ensure accuracy and prevent controversies, Burnett and Downey undertook consultations with several religious figures during the development of the production. They included Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes, Cardinal Donald Wuerl and Rick Warren, who helped develop the script.

"We worked hand in hand," Downey said of the collaboration. "It slowed down the process, because each step of the way the early drafts were sent out to this team. We had to wait for the notes to return. When suggestions were made or corrections were made, we'd implement them into the drafts and then send them out again."

But clearly, Burnett is confident of his newest endeavour.

"This could become NBC's biggest series in many, many years," he told Forbes.
