A petty officer (PO) suspected of murder will try to clear his name through the help of Agents Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his operatives in the upcoming episode of the long-running CBS series "NCIS."

In "Day in Court," CarterMatt reports that due to mishandled evidence, the murder case involving a PO is dismissed. The officer, however, wants to be rid of the stigma of being connected with the scandal and he needs the NCIS to conduct another investigation on what truly happened. To make the team agree with his request, he volunteers to be court-martialed. Will his name be exonerated after the NCIS is done sifting through the evidence?

Meanwhile, the synopsis also reveals that Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and husband Jake Malloy (Jamie Bamber) will take some time off to talk about their marriage. The two have been experiencing marital problems of late and they hope to talk things out. The website reports that the conversation will not exactly work as planned, as Bishop appears to be looking forward to leaving town for a while. The agent will be visiting her mother in Oklahoma for Thanksgiving and it is unlikely that her husband will be with her.

Last episode, Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) was reunited with his ex-girlfriend when he and Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) were sent to help in the search for the missing doctors. Insurgents in Sudan launched an attack on the American volunteers and the husband of his former lover was included in those who were kidnapped. The International Doctors Group was conducting a volunteer mission in Togu, South Sudan when the surprise attack left three dead and two more missing.

Meanwhile, Gibbs' sudden collapse sent Dr. Cyril Taft (Jon Cryer) back to the NCIS. He told the veteran agent that he needed to rest after the traumatic ordeal he went through. The good doctor also told him that talking about his experience with a therapist would help a lot, but Gibbs was not so forthcoming with the idea. When he had another one episode of fading out, he agreed that he has to let it all out with some. He did not want a shrink, however, as he declared that he would only talk with Dr. Taft.

"NCIS" season 13 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
