"Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4" has been critically praised since it launched this past February, and fans of the fighting game will get new content with the upcoming "Road to Boruto" DLC which will be released in Europe, North America, South America, Australia, the Middle-East, and Africa on Feb. 3, 2017.

As stated by Gematsu, the DLC will launch one day earlier in Japan, Feb. 2, 2017. The DLC will feature characters, locations, abilities, storylines, and quests based on the "Boruto: The Next Generation" series as well as the "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" feature film.

Given that they are based on the material focusing on Boruto, the "Road to Boruto" DLC will serve as an ending and epilogue to the "Ultimate Ninja Storm" series. Not only is the Boruto story the conclusion of the "Naruto" series, both the manga and anime, but "Ultimate Ninja Storm 4" is the last "Naruto" fighting game to be developed by CyberConnect 2.

Saiyan Island also reveals that, in Japan, the game is going to see a physical retail version launch alongside the digital version. Players in Japan can get it as a stand-alone title, and it will run even if the consumer does not own the base game.

Everywhere else, however, "Road to Boruto" will only be available digitally and "Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4" will be required in order to play the DLC, similar to how the majority of DLCs work for every other game.

It should be noted that this not the first time a DLC was released as a stand-alone title. The report states that "Full Burst" was available in a similar manner for "Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3."

As of writing, no announcements have been made if the stand-alone version of "Road to Boruto" will be made available outside of Japan. This version also comes with a reversible jacket for its case.

"Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto" is going to be released for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
