Motorola is making its way up in the smartphone industry. In the past year, they have improved their devices a lot. Drastic changes have been made so they can keep up with the big rollers in the industry. Have they succeeded? Little by little, they are gaining their own market share.

While many people may still be hesitant to buy a Motorola smartphone compared to buying an iPhone, a Samsung mobile, HTC or a Google Nexus, there's one thing that may pull you in. Motorola devices, almost all of the new ones, will be upgraded to the most recent Android OS, the Android 5.0 or Lollipop.

According to Motorola, "The next generation of Android - Android 5.0 Lollipop - has been released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). We will be working with our technology and carrier partners to bring it to you."

The current Motorola mobile phones included are Moto X (1^st Gen and 2^nd Gen), Moto G (1^st Gen and 2^nd Gen), Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, DROID Turbo, DROID Ultra and DROID Maxx. This isn't the final list. Motorola says there will be more added to the list.

Elsewhere, particularly in India, the Moto G 2013 is reported to be upgradeable to the Lollipop OS. According to Android Authority, when Moto G was first introduced in the country, it wasn't that much of an attractive smartphone due to the mid-range specs and simple design. However, given that it was affordable, it got great views for value for money.

What this means is that Motorola is rolling out smartphones that capture a specific audience. They can release phones with high-specs and price it more expensively and people will still buy it. On the other hand, they can also price their phones affordably and offer an awesome mid-range spec phone.

The release of Lollipop for the Moto G 2013 clearly shows that Motorola is working on their current models and making sure that customers are getting their money's worth. That even old model phones can be upgradeable to the latest Android OS.
