Ever since "Mortal Kombat X" developer NetherRealm Studios confirmed that there will be an expansion to the popular game, rumors surrounding the game has started to circulate online.

Other than the expansion confirmation, no other details about the game have been revealed; but that didn't stop fans from making their own speculations, especially about the list of downloadable content (DLC) characters that will soon be featured.

It was previously reported that game creator Ed Boon likes to post hints about the game on Twitter. One of his posts was a silhouette of the upcoming DLC characters and based on what fans have seen, they could make out Wolverine's figure, suggesting that he could be one of the characters included in the lineup.

Then another report from Design & Trend suggested that the "Kombat Pack 2" may introduce characters seen as opponents in the game's main story but were not included in "Kombat Pack 1's" current lineup. These characters include Sindel, Rain, and Baraka.

Meanwhile, PlayStation Universe also shared some of its speculated DLC characters which included Smoke, Spawn, and Noob Saibot, among others.

Smoke is from 2011 "Mortal Kombat" and a well-loved character who unfortunately didn't make the cut for the current lineup. Smoke can be seen in the current game for a brief moment, but it would be good news for fans if he appears as a full character in the game.

The speculation on Spawn appearing in the game came after its creator Todd McFarlane revealed that he had given the go signal to Warner Bros. to do so. It's already an opportunity for "Kombat" developers and will they be able to turn it down?

As for Noob Saibot, he appears in the original "Mortal Kombat" games as a secret fighter. Also being a popular character, he could be joining the list.

There's no official release date but it is expected that the DLC will be released during the first half of 2016.
