"Krypton," a television series that would focus on Kal-El aka Superman's grandfather on Krypton before it was destroyed, has been in development since 2014, and according to a new report from TVLine, it now appears that Syfy Channel is getting close to officially ordering a pilot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the concept for the series comes from writer-producer David S. Goyer, who also worked on "The Dark Knight" and "Man of Steel." Goyer will be serving as executive producer. Ian Goldberg, who worked on "Once Upon a Time," will executive-produce and has penned the pilot's screen play.

The series will be handled by Damian Kindler from "Sleepy Hollow" while the pilot episode will be directed by "Sherlock" veteran Colm McCarthy. No cast has yet been officially announced for the series, although names are speculated to come out once the pilot has been confirmed and given the green light to move forward.

The report states that the series will be set on the planet Krypton and will focus on Superman's grandfather. During this time period the House of El has been ostracized and shamed and the main character is looking for a means to bring back honor to his family while also trying to save their planet from impending doom.

According to a report from Coming Soon, it is possible that the series will be based on the comic book series "The World of Krypton," which was written by DC comics veteran John Byrne. The miniseries told the story of one Seyg-El, father to Jor-El and grandfather of Kal-El. However, neither Syfy nor Goyer has confirmed that this is the case.

It is also undetermined at this point if "Krypton" will be related by any means to the other DC television series such as "Supergirl" on CBS or the CW network shows like "Arrow" and "The Flash." There is also no certainty that it will be connected to the current DCEU slate of films, which Goyer is also a part of.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
