"House of Cards" season 5 is allegedly the final season of the show given that it is nearing the same end as the UK original and because showrunner Beau Willimon has departed the series. Despite this, the studios and the new showrunners are allowing the series to grow with the addition of two new cast members, Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott.

According to a report from Playlist, the two actors are going to be featured prominently in season 5, and they may likely be political rivals for Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and Claire Underwood (Robin Wright). However, the exact nature of their characters as well their names are yet to be revealed.

Clarkson became prominent in the 1987 film "The Untouchables" and later won an Academy Award for her role in the 2003 film "Pieces of April." She also won two Emmy Awards for her role as Aunt Sarah in the series "Six Feet Under." She most recently played a role in "The Elephant Man."

Scott was prominently featured in "Royal Pains," and he also played Richard Parker, father of Peter Parker or Spider-Man, in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and its sequel. The actor also served as director, musician, and producer for several small projects.

It is widely speculated that "House of Cards" season 5 will be the final season of the show and that it will bring about the downfall or death of Frank Underwood. This may involve Campbell or Clarkson's characters aiding Claire Underwood to rise up in power and kill her own husband so that she can become the President of the United States.

According to Screen Rant, it won't be long before the details of their roles will be shared with the public given that the fifth season is set to premiere in early 2017. It is speculated that season 5 is going to premiere in late March or early April, based on the premiere of previous seasons, although Netflix has yet to confirm this.
