Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) has left Owen (Kevin McKidd) hanging with only a note and she might be gone for good. Meanwhile, is something happening between Jo (Camilla Luddington) and DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti)?
Previously in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, Amelia left Owen because of their marital issues. The couple was having trouble over whether or not they were going to have a child. Amelia found out that she is not ready — and may never be ready — to have kids, while Owen has always wanted to become a father. Then, Owen finds himself with a note left by Amelia saying that whatever happens, her leaving is not his fault.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McKidd shared his thoughts about Amelia leaving Owen. "For now, she has, which is horrible and heartbreaking for both of them," said McKidd.
"Obviously it looks like she might not want to have kids, which is a core thing that Owen desperately wants and needs in his life that he couldn't have with Cristina. He was convinced that he and Amelia were on the same page. Suddenly that page might've been turned, and we're on a different page," McKidd explained.
He adds that his character is starting to ask questions where their marriage will be in the future, given that this is the second time that Amelia has bailed on him. The first one was on their wedding day and Owen had to convince his bride to continue with the ceremony.
If Amelia won't be able to get past her wounds of having a baby and starting a family, it is possible that she might not come back to Owen anymore. At the same time, Owen might not be willing to continue their marriage if he can't father a child with Amelia.
Meanwhile, could DeLuca and Jo become more than friends? DeLuca might have some feelings for Jo, but there are no indications yet that Jo has acknowledged those feelings. Luddington shared that Jo doesn't really feel that there's something going on with DeLuca.
"I think she feels in the midst of a tornado, there is so much spinning around her head that she's not picking up on any feelings. I think she's just happy to have a friend," revealed Luddington.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 returns on January 29, 2017 on ABC.
