'Gotham' season 2: Is the wedding still on for Jim, Leslie?

Will Jim push through with the wedding in "Gotham" season 2B? FOX

Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) proposed to Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) during the midseason finale of "Gotham," but it does not look like there will be a wedding soon. In fact, the couple may wait a while until the detective has come to terms with his bold decision to execute Theo Galavan (James Frain).

In episode 11 titled "Worse than a Crime," the Gotham City Police Department, together with a bunch of criminals led by Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), defeated Theo and his cronies. Jim had already apprehended Theo and was preparing to hand him over to the force. But when he found himself alone with the villain, he could not stop himself from feeling that he should die in his hands. Captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) cautioned Jim to not give in to his urge to kill, as it would go against his principles as a law enforcer.

Leslie also told Jim that he would regret it if he let his inner monster get the better of him. Unfortunately, Penguin arrived and knocked some sense into Jim. He said that if they let Theo stand trial, he would just be acquitted, just like before. If they execute him now, they would be sure that one evil soul of the city's lowlife would be eliminated. They brought Theo to the docks and executed him. The upcoming midseason premiere will see how Jim will process what happened, especially with the news that he is about to become a father.

When he learned that Leslie was pregnant with his child, Jim proposed to her. Their wedding, however, will likely be postponed pending the investigation on what happened that night in the docks. Jim may also rethink if he and Leslie should be married, now that he knows what he is capable of when anger consumes him. If worse comes to worst, there may never be a wedding at all.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter revealed the new poster and banner for the second half of the season 2, and it looks like things will turn ugly for Gotham. The teaser is tagged as "The Wrath of the Villains" and it shows the faces of the bad guys Jim will have to face in the upcoming episodes. One notable addition to the cast is Victor Fries aka Mr. Freeze played by Nathan Darrow.

"Gotham" season 2 will return on Monday, Feb. 29, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
