'Deadpool' movie news: Negasonic Teenage Warhead's powers unveiled

The upcoming "Deadpool" movie will primarily focus on Ryan Reynold's titular Deadpool but the trailers have shown that he will be accompanied by Colossus (Andre Tricoteux) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand). In an interview with Screen Rant, Hildebrand revealed more of her character's powers and their role in the film.

The first thing Hildebrand confirmed was that "Deadpool" did take place in the larger "X-Men" cinematic universe, although it is set in the modern day while "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be set in the 1980s. One strong link between the two is Colossus, whom she confirmed is a member of the X-Men during the events of "Deadpool."

Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Hildebrand explains, is more akin to Colossus's sidekick, although she will develop a unique relationship with Deadpool. This will stem from the differences in personality given that Deadpool has a dark sense of humor and tends to break the fourth wall while Negasonic Teenage Warhead is a goth and always serious.

"Negasonic Teenage Warhead is Colossus's sidekick," she explains. "When she gets involved with Deadpool... they have this interesting relationship. It's kind of like brother and sister. They are on the same side. But they kind of butt heads a lot of the time. That's how I would explain it, he's my brother. Me and my brother get along like that."

The actress then explains that her character's primary power is to look into the future. However, this will not only be her only capability as she will be able to take her name to a more literal degree: she will have the power to "run into things" and make them explode.

"Deadpool" is the first R-Rated "X-Men" film and will serve as a reboot for the titular character. The film is set to release on Feb. 12, 2016 and will be followed by "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27, 2016.
